Pin Curls with Miss Morgie - star of stage, screen & roller derby!
Start with WET hair for best results. Select a 1.5cm section of hair (NB. dont take sections much bigger than this or the curl wont hold). Pin curling works best with hair that is shoulder length or above.
Stretch the hair out, and wrap it smoothly around one or two fingers (make sure all your curls are wound in the same direction until you are an experienced curler!).
Also make sure you dont twist the hair when wrapping it around your fingers, or it wont curl properly.
Pull the ringlet off your fingers, and roll the curl to the base of the scalp.
Section off a new piece of hair the same size as the last, and continue curling as instructed above. With trial and error you will be able to line up the curls in even rows around your head
With pin curls, the longer you leave the clips in, the better the result. Sleeping with your hair curled in (as terribly sexy as that is) is ideal. To reduce friction and keep your pins n curls in place while you get your beauty sleep, tie on a cute head scarf . If thats not your bag, you can always blast your hair with the dryer until your curls are completely dry, and then take them out.
Once you have taken the pins out, what you do is up to you! Brush your hair for an all over glamour wave, or old hollywood 'fluff', run your fingers through for sexy messy curls, or leave as is for pretty ringlets!
Most importantly, dont forget the hair spray! When wanting to hold in curls, it is best to opt for the strongest, best quality hairspray you can find (not the supermarket stuff) and dont be afraid to use liberally!
